I have had many situations arise in my life that have caused severe stress and I didn't realize how badly it was affecting me. It was Yoga that brought to light how stress had taken over and led to the deterioration of my health.
When my daughter passed away from cancer in 2010, grief and depression filled my day-to-day life. Traditional medicine was not helping and I needed to find a method of dealing with these emotions and my long-standing issues with anxiety.
I had practiced yoga for years before but life took me away from my practice, an excuse we all too often make. But I got back on my mat at the suggestion of my doctor, Dr. Regina Forester, MD. This time around my yoga practice felt different. I could feel the difference in how I dealt with my depression and anxiety, as well as my lifelong battle with insomnia. I immediately noticed a sense of peace and tranquility. My whole approach had changed.
After experiencing firsthand all of the physical, mental and emotional benefits of a true and real yoga practice, at my age of over 60, I realized I was reversing health issues without the meds. It was at this point I knew I wanted to help others help heal themselves too. It truly is about the mind-body connection. Yoga changed my life and I hope after reading my story it will change yours.
